Abstract
Based on the theory of statistical thermodynamics, and with the concep t of the residual function in chemical engineering thermodynamics, a n ew equation to estimate the heat of vaporization for pure compounds at normal boiling point has been derived. Combined with the Wang-Shi equ ation, another new equation to estimate the heat of vaporization for p ure compounds is proposed. With these two new equations, the heats of vaporization for 157 kinds of pure compounds at normal boiling point a nd the heats of vaporization of 245 pure compounds at 7574 temperature sets respectively are estimated. Compared with experimental data, the overall absolute average deviations are respectively 1.29% and 1.77%, and this is superior to the literature deviations.
