R. Minetti et al., AUTOIGNITION DELAYS OF A SERIES OF LINEAR AND BRANCHED-CHAIN ALKANES IN THE INTERMEDIATE RANGE OF TEMPERATURE, Combustion science and technology, 114, 1996, pp. 179-192
A set of ignition data of linear and branched chain alkanes (n-butane,
n-pentane, neopentane, n-heptane, and isooctane) measured in an origi
nal rapid compression machine is provided. It allows a comparison of t
he ignition conditions of pressure, temperature and equivalence ratio
for these hydrocarbons. Derailed mechanisms from different research gr
oups based on a similar generic scheme of hydrocarbon oxidation are te
sted against the experimental ignition delays. The differences between
experimental and modeling results are discussed.
