Ae. Bugrim et al., INTERFERENCE OF CROSSING TRIGGER WAVES IN MULTILAYER REACTION-DIFFUSION SYSTEMS, Physical review letters, 75(6), 1995, pp. 1206-1209
We present here numerical simulations that qualitatively reproduce an
experimental observation of the periodic emergence of sawtooth-shaped
crossing chemical waves. Our results suggest that these large amplitud
e periodic variations of the shape of the wave fronts are a generic ph
enomenon. This type of interference is qualitatively different from th
e classical interference of linear waves, which results in amplitude v
ariation but preserves the shape of the wave fronts.
