Jr. Allan et al., PREPARATION AND CHARACTERIZATION OF METAL ACRYLATE GRAFTED POLYPROPYLENE, Plastics, rubber and composites processing and applications, 24(1), 1995, pp. 43-46
A series of transition metal complexes have been melt grafted to polyp
ropylene via a free radical initiated reaction. Significant levels of
grafting were achieved. The grafted polypropylenes were coloured. They
had glass transition temperatures (T-g) generally higher than the unm
odified polypropylene together with lower molecular weights, which sug
gested ionomeric behaviour gave rise to these increased glass transiti
on temperatures. The surface resistivities of the grafted polypropylen
es were all lower than the unmodified polymer which favours improved a
ntistatic properties.
