Ce. Coffey et al., ASSESSMENT OF TREATMENT OUTCOMES IN NEUROPSYCHIATRY - A REPORT FROM THE COMMITTEE ON RESEARCH OF THE AMERICAN-NEUROPSYCHIATRIC-ASSOCIATION, The Journal of neuropsychiatry and clinical neurosciences, 7(3), 1995, pp. 287-289
The ANPA Committee on Research conducted a survey of its members and t
hose of the British Neuropsychiatry Association to determine the exten
t to which neuropsychiatrists employ formal measures of clinical outco
me. Results revealed that although respondents endorsed the practice o
f outcome assessment, formal diagnostic evaluations and outcome measur
es were rarely applied consistently to the broad range of neuropsychia
tric conditions encountered clinically. These findings have implicatio
ns for clinical research and managed care in neuropsychiatry and will
form the basis for future work by the Committee on Research.
