R. Dussel et J. Stichlmair, SEPARATION OF AZEOTROPIC MIXTURES BY BATCH DISTILLATION USING AN ENTRAINER, Computers & chemical engineering, 19, 1995, pp. 113-118
Batch Distillation is an efficient unit operation which allows the sep
aration of a multicomponent mixture into its components in a single co
lumn. However, the separation of azeotropic mixtures via distillation
is quite complex because at the azeotrope liquid and gas have the same
composition and, therefore, the driving force for distillation disapp
ears. A systematical presentation of batch distillation processes for
separating binary azeotropic mixtures using an entrainer is given.
