Abstract
In this paper, an Integrated Computer Aided System (ICAS), which is pa rticularly suitable for solving problems related to integrated design and control of chemical processes, is presented. ICAS features include a modelling feature (generation of problem specific models, such as l inear model, reduced model, simple and/or complex non-linear model), a simulation feature (steady state and dynamic simulation., open-loop a nd closed-loop simulation), an analysis feature (operability, sensitiv ity and controllability) and design features (design of operations and controllers). Two application examples involving non-ideal mixtures a nd highlighting some of the new features of ICAS are presented.
