Abstract
A qualitative process modelling method is presented which makes use of a fuzzy graph theory-based Signed Directed Graph (fuzzy-SDG) to repre sent the mathematical models governing the process systems. Two method s for solving problems in the domain are discussed: node-to-node reaso ning and a matrix method. The advantages of the methods are discussed and the effectiveness of the procedures is illustrated by reference to case studies.
