An H-soft-switched cell is proposed to obtain soft switching in single
-switch nonisolated DC-to-DC converters. The proposed cell provides co
nstant-frequency loss-less switching. It may be regarded as a soft swi
tch with a similar control circuit to that used in conventional PWM co
nverters. Based on an equal area concept, a unified method for steady-
state analysis is also proposed. The concept of equivalent effective d
uty is introduced to simplify the design of the converters. Experiment
al results of an H-soft-switched boost converter are presented to veri
fy the proposed topologies and the analytical methods.
