Somaclonal variation was observed on callus and regenerated clones ind
uced in vitro from internodal cuttings prelevated on a dihaploid potat
o clone. A preliminary study on nuclear DNA mass showed variations ind
icating a genome instability increasing rapidly during the first twelv
e days of culture, then decreasing with callus aging, but also increas
e soon after subculture. The effect of these variations on chromosome
number were analyzed on 44 regenerated clones. Finally, observations o
n meiosis allowed us to sort some diploid regenerated clones with a mo
re regular meiosis than the control.
