Abstract
A first principles self-consistent Green's function technique for calc ulating the ground state electronic structure of interfaces has been a pplied to investigate the magnetic interaction in a bcc (001) Fe/Cu-n/ FE trilayer. The periodicity of the exchange coupling as well as the l ayer spin-resolved moments are found to be consistent with the couplin g mechanism described by the RKKY theory.
