U. Pustogowa et al., ENHANCEMENT OF THE MAGNETOOPTICAL KERR ROTATION IN NONLINEAR-OPTICAL RESPONSE, Journal of magnetism and magnetic materials, 148(1-2), 1995, pp. 269-272
Using an electronic theory we calculate the frequency-dependent nonlin
ear magneto-optical Kerr rotation and show that the second harmonic po
larization ellipsis is more strongly influenced by magnetism than in t
he linear case. We find for the magnetization dependence of the nonlin
ear and linear magneto-optical susceptibility tenser elements a linear
dependence on magnetization. The influence of the symmetry of matrix
elements for s or d transitions on the second harmonic intensity is di
scussed. Furthermore, the at, initio nonlinear Ken spectra of Fe layer
s of different thicknesses are presented.
