Abstract
Recent efforts to complete the harmonization process of the European U nion hew substantially altered the traditional European transportation environment. The European motor carrier industry is presently going t hrough a significant trans-formation, moving from a network of small. regionalized carriers, to a highly complex, multi-segmented industry. The objective of this research is to synthesize a large body of litera ture as it relates to the evolving single European trucking industry, with particular emphasis placed on several critical unresolved issues and their likely outcomes.
