In the presented work the microstructural changes in Al-Al4C3 with 4 v
ol.% of Al4C3 are presented, with their relations to the properties af
ter straining at different temperatures and strain rates. It has been
shown, up to 300 degrees C the dislocation slip in the grains is the d
ominant deformation mechanism; from 350 to 450 degrees C also the addi
tional mechanisms of the slide on the grain boundaries are in effect;
at the temperature 450 degrees C and at the strain rate 10(-1) s(-1) a
superplastic like behaviour was observed, the microstructure showing
remarkable elongation of the grains in one direction.
