Abstract
An investigation has been made of the hydrogenation of the double bond s of 5,6-epoxy-ciscyclo-octene and 5-cyclo-octene-1,2-diol acid the hy drogen reduction of cycle-octyl hydroperoxide in the presence of finel y dispersed catalysts based on platinum group metals. The process indi ces have been assessed as a function of the nature of the metal, the s upport, the solvent and the reaction conditions. The kinetic parameter s have been determined, and the mechanism of formation of products is proposed.
