Abstract
Overcompaction of soils by agricultural vehicles is a problem in all c ountries that practice intensive mechanized agriculture. The principal mechanisms and indices of the physical degradation of soils, the fact ors and methods of decompaction of soils, and the reasons for prolonge d adverse effects of overcompaction, are discussed. A model for the pr ediction of compaction is presented.
