Abstract
The use of 6 French guiding catheters is still usually limited to elec tive percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty. We describe our p reliminary experience with this guiding size to perform a double guide wire procedure for angioplasty of coronary bifurcation lesions, to pr otect (n = 5) and/or to sequentialy dilate(n = 9) a major side branch. Technical success was 12/14 (86%), angiographic success 13/14 (93%), and in-hospital outcome was event free in all patients. Thus, 6 French guiding size is both safe and effective for the majority of coronary bifurcation angioplasty.
