Abstract
At the BP Lavera refinery a near infrared (NIR) advanced control syste m has been operating for more than 2 years on the gasoline blender pro ducing 1 Mt/year of motor spirits in a closed loop mode with multivari able blending control software. The system incorporates a centralised NIR spectrometer fitted with optical fibres to carry near infrared rad iation between the instrument and the process stream.
