S. Rehbein et al., STUDY ON THE INFESTATION OF A PASTURE FOR FARMED FALLOW DEER (DAMA-DAMA L) WITH LARVAE OF GASTROINTESTINAL NEMATODES AND LUNGWORMS AND LUNGWORMS, Zeitschrift fur Jagdwissenschaft, 41(2), 1995, pp. 93-99
Herbage samples were examined for larvae of parasitic nematodes from M
ay to November 1993 in fortnightly intervals in a fallow deer farm nea
r Leipzig, Saxonia, Germany. Third stage larvae were present during th
e whole study period on pasture. From May to June only a few larvae of
ostertagians were recovered. With the rapid rise of larval counts in
June larvae of Oesophagostomum spp, appeared on pasture. Larvae of Nem
atodirus roscidus were seen from the end of July until November and re
ached a peak level in September. After increase of pasture larval coun
t in June it remained on a low level until November and varied between
76 and 152 larvae per kg dry matter herbage. Dictyocaulus larvae were
recovered from herbage in small numbers in autumn from September to N
ovember. The investigations show, that no dangerous pasture larval cou
nts were observed despite of a high stocking rate of about 20 fallow d
eer to the hectare.
