Abstract
The continuum distorted wave eikonal initial state (CDWEIS) approximat ion is used to study the ionisation of hydrogen in it's first excited state by proton and antiproton impact in the energy range 10-1000 keV. The total cross sections presented are found to be in disagreement wi th similar CDWEIS calculations by Fainstein, Pence and Rivarola [6]. I t is concluded that Fainstein et al, have erroneously included a const ant multiplicative factor (of 2) in their calculations.
