Abstract
A dinucleoside (cyanomethyl)phosphonate has been prepared, and its pro perties have been studied. This compound was converted into an oligonu cleotide possessing alternating (cyanomethyl)phosphonate and phosphodi ester backbone groups and its hybridization to complementary DNA and R NA sequences was studied versus methylphosphonate and phosphodiester c ontrols.
