Mf. Chretien et al., CUTANEOUS MELANOMA DIAGNOSED BY CYTOLOGIC EXAMINATION OF THE CEREBROSPINAL-FLUID, Journal of experimental & clinical cancer research, 14(3), 1995, pp. 313-315
A case of cerebral metastasis of melanoma that could have been diagnos
ed only by cytologic examination of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) is repor
ted. The radiologic (CT scanner, Xray, bone scintigraphy) and biologic
(blood check-up) investigations were all. Examination of the CSF is n
ot negative only a quick complementary and fast test in the hands of t
rained cytologists but also offers a particular and unequivocal method
yielding precious information to clinicians.
