Abstract
Collisional energy exchange between electrons having a plateau-shaped
distribution with loss cone and a Maxwellian plasma component in the p
lug cell of a tandem mirror is studied. The expression for the energy
exchange rate is obtained analytically and is compared with that for t
wo Maxwellian plasma components. The energy exchange rate is also calc
ulated for different shapes of the loss cone boundary.
