The v(p) x B linear electron accelerator applied to the conventional d
isk-loaded accelerator has been demonstrated. An energy gain of 5.4 ke
V for electrons is observed from an incident energy of 42 keV in a 0.5
m accelerator, when an external magnetic field of 1.1 G is applied. T
he energy gain is proportional to B-1.5 until the electrons are detrap
ped from the wave trough. The results of experiments and theories are
in fairly good agreement.
