Abstract
New measurements of previously determined natural widths of the Xe 4d( 5/2)(-1) np (n = 6, 7, 8) and Xe 4d(3/2)(-1) np (n = 6, 7, 8, 9) reson ances, and a new value for the 9p resonance in the former are reported . In general, our measured widths are nearly constant, are narrower th an found in earlier experiments, are with one exception in better agre ement with the older of the two, and have associated error bars apprec iably smaller than either. An anticipated slight increase in the 7p, 8 p, 9p widths in the 4d(3/2)(-1) series arising from core-multiplet (j- changing) Auger decays was searched for, but was found to be too small to be definitively confirmed.
