IS THIS OPIOID ANALGESIC TOLERANCE

Tolerance to the analgesic effect of opioids is a poorly understood ph enomenon. While generally accepted to be an uncommon problem, it clear ly can present major management difficulties in some patients. This ca se report illustrates different aspects of tolerance, describes a mana gement approach wing different opioids, and provides a focus for discu ssion of some current developments in understanding and managing this problem.
