K. Miura et al., SOLUBILIZATION OF A BROWN-COAL IN A SOLVENT MIXTURE OF METHANOL AND ANONPOLAR SOLVENT AT ROOM-TEMPERATURE, Chemistry Letters, (10), 1995, pp. 909-910
A new method was developed for solubilizing a brown coal in a conventi
onally used solvent at room temperature. The coal pretreated with hydr
ogen peroxide in liquid phase at 60 degrees C for 2 h was extracted by
solvent mixtures of methanol and a nonpolar solvent by the convention
al method. In the solvent consisting of methanol and 1-methyl-naphthal
ene (0.54:0.46 volumetric ratio), surprisingly, 84 wt% of the pretreat
ed coal were extracted.
