Abstract
This paper addresses the problem of predicting acoustical noise. Acous tical noise and related quantities are considered in determining the r elationships between noise and its causes. An innovative approach for the manipulation of traffic information is introduced: The fuzzy appro ach is used in order to obtain the relationship mentioned above. A set of data, collected during a measurement survey performed in a medium, sized European town, is considered. The behavior of the fuzzy model i s compared with the performance of the classical model, introduced in literature. The reported results show that the proposed fuzzy models c ontribute an improvement in the capacity to approximate real data. (C) 1995 Acoustical Society of America.
