The crystal structures of [Zn(AMN(4)S(2)sarH)](ClO4)(NO3)(2) . 2H(2)O(
AMN(4)S(2)sar = 3-dithia-6,10,16,19-tetraazabicyclo[6.6.6]icosane) and
[Zn(AMN(5)Ssar)] (ClO4)(2) . 2H(2)O (AMN(5)Ssar = 8-amino-3-thia-6,10
,13,16,19-pentazabicyclo[6.6.6] icosane) have been determined by X-ray
diffraction methods. In each case the ligands effectively encapsulate
the metal ion within a macrobicyclic cavity, a distorted octahedral e
nvironment resulting from both the-unsymmetrical nature of the mixed n
itrogen and thioether donor atoms and the small size of the zinc(II) i
on.
