The peculiarities of static downward voltage-current characteristics o
f Sn-I-Pb tunnel junctions have been investigated in the voltages rang
e (Delta(Pb)-Delta(Sn))/e < V < (Delta(Pb) + Delta(Sn))/e (where Delta
(Pb) and Delta(Sn) are the energy gaps of Pb and Sn, respectively) at
transition shift under <<voltage source>> regime. The character of the
se peculiarities which varies with the load resistance, temperature an
d external magnetic field as well as comparison with the known experim
ental results obtained for the Josephson voltage - current characteris
tics branches and the existing theory suggests that the descending bra
nch is defined by the processes associated with the relaxation oscilla
tions present in a system.
