Abstract
Faculty status for academic librarians is based on the teaching facult y model. However, the basic tenure and promotion constructs of teachin g, research and service do not readily apply to academic library pract ice. This article presents the clinical faculty model as a more viable foundation for faculty status for academic librarians.
