Abstract
Pilot experiments were performed to analyze the potential of Fourier t ransformation infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy for classification and ide ntification of actinomycetes. The results indicate that the method all ows a classification of actinomycetes strains at a level comparable to that obtained by classical taxonomy, and that identification of strai ns is possible at a sub-species level.
