J. Opfermann et W. Hadrich, PREDICTION OF THE THERMAL RESPONSE OF HAZARDOUS MATERIALS DURING STORAGE USING AN IMPROVED TECHNIQUE, Thermochimica acta, 263, 1995, pp. 29-50
In order to achieve predictions with a high degree of confidence conce
rning the thermal behaviour of high-energy materials, the heat-generat
ing process in the inhomogenous thermal conduction equation is describ
ed by a one- to four-step reaction process. Deconvolution and kinetic
analysis, using multivariate non-linear regression of DSC measurements
together provide the basis for relevant kinetic parameters to describ
e the thermal behaviour of Zoalen above the melting temperature. It is
shown that only when one has a combination of DSC measurements and me
asurements with highly-sensitive micro calorimeters, can predictions w
ith a high degree of confidence be achieved over the entire temperatur
e range.
