Abstract
Iodonium-ion-assisted condensation of methyl -[3-(methylthiomethoxy)pr opyl]-alpha-D-neuraminate (15) with hexyl ha-L-fucopyranosyl)-2-deoxy- beta-D-glucopyranoside (12) furnished, after deprotection, SLe(x) mimi c 3. The non-fucosylated derivative 2 was obtained in a similar fashio n by the coupling of 15 with hexyl -benzoyl-6-O-benzyl-2-deoxy-beta-D- glucopyranoside (8).
