M. Koeller et al., DESTRUCTIVE LYMPHADENOPATHY AND T-LYMPHOCYTE ACTIVATION IN ADULT-ONSET STILLS DISEASE, British journal of rheumatology, 34(10), 1995, pp. 984-988
Recurrent arthritis, fever and lymphadenopathy are symptoms of adult o
nset of Still's disease (AOSD). Differential diagnosis requires the ex
clusion of infections or malignant lymphomas. We report on a case of A
OSD showing destructive lymphadenopathy, immunophenotyping of peripher
al blood leucocytes revealed strong activation of T-lymphocytes. Bone
marrow biopsy also showed an increase of lymphopoietic cells to 23%. A
nalysis of peripheral blood lymphocytes (PBL) after remission showed n
o remaining signs of activation. Analysis of lymphocyte activation by
flow cytometry correlated with disease activity.
