Abstract
We analyse the behaviour of coronal activity as a function of rotation for a large sample of single and binary evolved stars for which we ha ve obtained CORAVEL high precision rotational velocities. This study s hows that tidal effects play a direct role in determining the X-ray ac tivity level in binary evolved stars. The circularisation of the orbit is a necessary property for enhanced coronal activity in evolved bina ry stars.
