Abstract
Reaction of NaCp'(Cp' = C5H4CH3) with YbCl3 and YbOCl in THF results i n the formation of a new complex, Cp(3)'Yb-4(mu-Cl)(6)(mu(3)-Cl)(mu(4) -O)(THF)(3) (1). The X-ray crystal structure of 1 reveals an oxygen-ce ntred tetrahedral arrangement of ytterbium atoms which has mu-Cl group s bridging each edge and a mu(3)-Cl ligand over the trianglar face com posed of Yb atoms with Cp' groups.
