Ja. Korkeila et al., CLARIFICATION OF PSEUDOLOGIA FANTASTICA - A STUDY OF 2 CASES OF FANTASTIC PSEUDOLOGY, Nordic journal of psychiatry, 49(5), 1995, pp. 367-371
The term pseudologia fantastica has been fairly widely used despite th
e lack of consensus as to its definition. Little attention has been pa
id to its diagnostic significance. As a presenting symptom it can be c
onfused with delusional psychosis, confabulation, malingering, or mere
lying. In this article the literature is briefly reviewed, and the di
agnostic significance of pseudologia fantastica in cases of neuropsych
iatric, delusional, and personality disorders is illustrated with two
clinical vignettes.
