Abstract
We report a case of repeated isolation of Exophiala dermatitidis from catheter blood cultures in a 1.5-year-old child with partial skin thic kness burns. This black and neurotropic fungus is rarely isolated, par ticularly in France and is a recognized causative agent of phaeohyphom ycosis; about forty cases were reported in the world literature. To ou r knowledge, no French case was described. In the case report, the chi ld was always asymptomatic and was not treated with antifungal agents. The central venous catheter was removed and its culture was sterile. Nosocomial feature must be emphasized. Origin of the fungus is unknown . A clinical surveillance of the child was advised.
