R. Salim et al., EFFECTS OF SEVERAL FACTORS ON THE GROWTH AND ON THE METAL UPTAKE AND UPTAKE DISTRIBUTION OF OKRA PLANT TREATED WITH CADMIUM, Journal of environmental science and health. Part A: Environmental science and engineering, 30(9), 1995, pp. 2027-2040
Several factors affecting the growth and the uptake of cadmium by okra
plants were studied using both root - treatment and foliar - treatmen
t. These factors were the concentration of cadmium, type of treatment,
soil composition, presence of foreign ions, salinity, acidity and tem
perature. Both growth of plant and cadmium uptake by plant were affect
ed highly by the concentration of cadmium, type of treatment, soil com
position, salinity and temperature. Acidity of solutions has only a li
ttle and irregular effect. A synergistic combined effect of lead, coppe
r and zinc with cadmium was observed on the growth of plant but not re
gular on the uptake of cadmium.
