A scheme of the zoogeographical subdivision of North Africa based on t
he cluster analysis of the distribution of rodents (62 species) is giv
en. The maps of zonal types of landscapes, that of the distribution of
collection sites and the parameters of faunal diversity calculated ba
sing on 1 degrees x1 degrees grid were used in this analysis. The sout
hern borderline of the Sahara - Gobian desert region is defined more e
xactly. The Coastal North-African subregion is outlined within the reg
ion for the first time.
