USING HYPERMEDIA FOR LANGUAGE-LEARNING - A RESOURCE-BASED ENVIRONMENT

This paper describes the development of a hypermedia environment for l anguage learning that has evolved from a joint project between the Lan guage Centre and the Interactive Learning Centre at the University of Southampton. The paper examines the design process which has evolved d uring the adaptation of several multimedia resources to a hypermedia p resentation and the supporting infrastructure that is provided for the student. The paper also poses some questions for the research agenda which must underpin the process of creating and integrating resource-b ased materials for a contemporary education in modern languages.
