O. Millo et al., CRYOGENIC SCANNING TUNNELING SPECTROSCOPY STUDIES OF INHOMOGENEOUS SUPERCONDUCTORS, Journal of low temperature physics, 106(3-4), 1997, pp. 417-422
We applied scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy, combined wi
th magnetic susceptibility measurements and Mossbauer spectroscopy, in
studies of three superconducting materials. Two belong to a new class
of high T-c magnetic-superconductor systems, R(1.4)Ce(0.6)RuSr(2)Cu(2
)O(10-delta) (R=Eu and Gd), which care magnetically ordered at T-N muc
h greater than T-c. The third a's a granular normal-superconductor sys
tem, where the superconducting phase is Y Ni2B2C. In this paper we foc
us on the tunneling measurements, which exhibit large spatial variatio
ns of the local electronic properties for all three materials. Albeit,
these local measurements also reveal pronounced differences between t
he third and the first two systems, which will be discussed in view of
their macroscopic properties.
