Abstract
High-temperature X-ray diffraction measurements were performed in air to investigate the diffusionless tetragonal-cubic (t'-c) phase transit ion. The t'-c phase transition occurs reversibly between 1024 degrees and 1083 degrees C in the ZrO2-16 mol% ScO1.5 solid solution. This tra nsition point is located in the vicinity of the cubic solubility limit within the tetragonal plus cubic two-phase region in the temperature- composition phase diagram. On the basis of the metastable-stable featu res, the experimental data of phase diagram in the literature are crit ically reviewed and a reasonable metastable-stable phase diagram is pr oposed.
