CHRONIC RELAPSING THROMBOTIC THROMBOCYTOPENIC PURPURA AND ANTIPHOSPHOLIPID ANTIBODIES - A REPORT OF 2 CASES

We report on 2 cases of chronic relapsing thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura, in which anti-phospholipid antibodies were also found. The fi rst patient was felt to have the antiphospholipid antibody syndrome, w hite the second patient had anti-phospholipid antibodies without clini cal manifestations of the anti-phospholipid antibody syndrome. We disc uss chronic relapsing thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura and the anti -phospholipid antibody syndrome. Furthermore, we introduce the possibi lity of an association between chronic relapsing thrombotic thrombocyt openic purpura and the presence of anti-phospholipid antibodies. (C) 1 997 Wiley-Liss, Inc.
