S. Tekaya et al., INTERVENTION OF A TUBULIN-LIKE MATERIAL D URING REGENERATION OF THE MARINE PLANARIAN SABUSSOWIA-DIOICA (CLAPAREDE, 1863) (PLATHELMINTHES, TRICLADIDA), Bulletin de la Societe zoologique de France, 121(3), 1996, pp. 269-278
The presence of a material immunologically related to tubulin has been
detected in the marine triclad Sabussowia dioica (Claparede, 1863). I
ntact planarians and regenerating fragments have been studied. A stron
g positive immunoreaction has been signalized during the first 3 days
of regeneration. Elements immunologically related to tubulin have been
described (shape, size, orientation...) and identified. A counting of
cells has revealed a correlation with the mitotic activity. These obs
ervations have been interpreted by the existence of cytoskeletal micro
tubules activated in regenerating marine planarians. Their interventio
n during regeneration contribute to confirm the cell proliferation and
directed migration of neoblast theory.
