The problem of consistency of results provided by low-temperature spec
troscopies and pulse techniques on the kinetics of radiation produced
intermediates is discussed in terms of a recently developed stochastic
model [Plonka A. and Paszkiewicz A. (1992) J. Chem. Phys. 96, 1128] r
ationalizing the dependence of reaction patterns in condensed media on
their time scales in relation to those of structural relaxations. The
results of both approaches are seen to be consistent in terms of this
model applied to the transitions from ''solid-like'' to ''liquid-like
'' kinetics in numerous systems.
