Abstract
As environmental science becomes increasingly politicised one would ex pect scientists to be playing an important role in initiating public d ebate and shaping environmental policy. However when Susan Wilson and lan Barnes surveyed senior environmental scientists they found that ma ny are reluctant to enter the public spotlight.
