Abstract
The synthesis of the first triptycenocrown ethers was achieved by two- step procedure which includes condensation of 9,10-bis(chloromethyl)an thracene with polyethylene glycols to yield the intermediate 9,10-anth racenocrown ethers, and subsequent cycloaddition of benzyne leading to the title compounds. The structures of 9,10-triptyceno-25-crown-7 (1) and its thallium nitrate complex (Tl-1) were determined by X-Ray diff raction analysis and NMR spectroscopy.
