Abstract
The synthesis of antitumor marine steroid aragusterols A, B, C and D w as successfully carried out. The synthesis involved stereoselective co nstruction of side chain segment 8, coupling of 8 with 20-keto steroid 1 1 giving aragusterol B and conversion of aragusterol B into aragust erols A, C and D.
